On Human Rights and Anti-Trafficking Law

The Philippine Nikkei Jin Kai International School held its 2nd Learning Session for the Parents and Guardians last August 13, 2013 at the school’s Audio-Visual Room. The school had the privileged of having the Commission on Human Rights representatives to talk about Basic Human Rights and The Anti-Trafficking Law.

Mr. Alfonso Balansag, Jr. imparted to the parents/guardians the history and the significance of our Rights. He reiterated that the Commission on Human Rights’ primary function is investigating all forms of human rights’ violations involving civil and political rights in the Philippines.

Furthermore, Mr. Peter Neil A. explained the government campaign on “The Anti-trafficking in Persons Act of 2004” or known as RA NO. 9208; an act to institute policies to eliminate trafficking in person especially women and children, establishing the necessary institutional mechanism for the protection and support of trafficked persons, providing penalities for the violations and for other purposes.

The session ended in giving of certificate of appreciation to the speakers as well as to the participants. Each participant was able to receive a handbook of the United Nations Convention on the rights of the child and its optional protocol, and CHR brochure – Do you know your rights?.
