School Admission Policy

Philippine Nikkei Jin Kai International School (PNJK-IS) will accommodate new, transferees and returning students provided that they abide by the admission policies and meet the institutional requirements. Parents must understand that PNJK-IS follows the curriculum prescribed by the Department of Education (DepEd). Moreover, the school offers Japanese Language (Nihongo) as part of its curriculum along with the other prescribed academic subjects, thus, this is required from Preschool up to Senior High School. Furthermore, the school sets its institutional requirements in admitting Foreign Students.

In general, applicants must:

  1. Pass the entrance examination and interview
  2. Comply with the admission documentary requirements

The school reserves the right to refuse entry based on the result of the entrance examination, a poor report from his/her previous school, or inappropriate behavior during the assessment. Moreover, the school reserves the right to refuse admission for those who have insufficient and/or unacceptable enrollment documentary requirements. Lastly, a student is considered officially enrolled only after he/she has complied with all the enrollment documentary requirements and has made an initial payment of school fees.

ENTRANCE EXAMINATION & INTERVIEW APPLICATION STEPS

Interested parent/official guardian of the student shall follow the STEPS in applying for the Entrance Examination & Interview.

    FACE-TO-FACE APPLICATION STEPS

    5 Once payment has been verified, the entrance exam & interview schedule shall be sent to you by the Registrar.
    6 Come to the school on the scheduled date and time of the entrance exam & interview. Bring ID and writing pen/pencil.

    For Old Students: Please check the clearance status of your child/ward first before proceeding to enrolment.

    For New/Transferees: Please ensure that you had already received the Notice of Acceptance (NOA) from the Student Development Center before proceeding to enrolment. Otherwise, take the entrance examination & interview first in order to secure the NOA.

    The online enrolment process must be completed in order for a student to be registered in the Official List of PNJK-IS Students.

    UPDATING/ENCODING OF STUDENT INFORMATION

    Once student information has been updated/encoded in our MIS, you shall receive a confirmation email from the Registrar for you to proceed to the payment of school fees, along with the copy of the schedule of fees and student ID number.

    CONFIRMATION OF PAYMENT & STUDENT SCHOOL ID PROCESSING

    Once payment has been verified and confirmed by our Cashier, you shall receive a confirmation of your OFFICIAL ENROLMENT to PNJK-IS from the Registrar which will be sent via email or SNS.

    The link for the School ID Information Sheet shall likewise be sent to you for you to fill out and submit. This must be completed in order to process the Student School ID.

    For pick-up: Please come to school on weekdays during office hours. No office during weekends and holidays.

    For LBC: Our Book-in-Charge shall contact you through call or text message for the shipping details and other instructions.

    IMPORTANT REMINDERS WHEN ENROLLING VIA ONLINE

    1. A student is considered officially enrolled only if he/she has paid, in full or partially, the school fees for SY 2023-2024, and has complied with all the documentary requirements for enrollment.
    2. To avoid inconvenience, please ensure that you have sent a clear copy of the school records. Otherwise, the school will request for a clearer copy should the documents are found to be unreadable, illegible, blurred, soiled, with incomplete information, etc.
    3. The school may require additional requirements, if needed.
    4. You are required to submit the hard copy of the school records before the 1st quarter of the school year ends. For the time-being, the student will be admitted under PROVISIONAL STATUS pending receipt of the required school documentary requirements.

    ADMISSION POLICY FOR NURSERY, JUNIOR KINDER AND KINDERGARTEN

    Philippine Nikkei in Kai International School accepts Kindergarten learners in accordance with the guidelines set by the Department of Education. As stated in Item VI.15.A of the enclosure to DepEd Order No. 47, s. 2016, as amended by DepEd Order No. 20, s. 2018 which states that,

    Age qualification for Kindergarten learners in both public and private schools should be five (5) years old by June 1 of every calendar year. However, the school may consider learners entering Kindergarten who will turn five (5) years old by the end of August on the condition that the Philippine Early Childhood Development (ECD) Checklist must be administered to the learner prior to the start of the opening of the school year, to ensure that the learner is capable of meeting the expectations of the grade level. Parents may provide documentation and/or certification of the learner’s previous Early Childhood Education (ECE) experiences (i.e, preschool, day care, pre-Kindergarten) in addition to the results of the Philippine ECD Checklist.

    For schools commencing the school year beyond June, the requirement that Kindergarten learners should be five (5) years old by June 1 and the extension period ending on August 31 shall be adjusted. For schools commencing their school year in July, Kindergarten learners should be five (5) years old by July 1 and the extension period shall be until September 30. For schools commencing their school year in August, Kindergarten learners should be five (5) years old by August 1 and the extension period shall be until October 31.”

    ADMISSION POLICY FOR GRADE 1

    For the incoming Grade I pupil, the applicant must have (1) undergone and completed the Kindergarten education from a school recognized or authorized by the Department of Education and (2) must have the Learner Reference Number (LRN), before allowing him/her to proceed to the entrance application and be enrolled in the Grade I level.

    ADMISSION POLICY FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS & STUDENTS FROM ABROAD
    The applicant must be represented by his/her parent and/or legal guardian (who is related by blood to the applicant). He/she must first present original Report Card and/or School Transcript (translated in English) before entrance application/interview will be accommodated. The school may require additional school credentials should the documents presented are found to be unsatisfactory. The school shall have the discretion to accelerate its pupil to a higher Grade/Year, or conversely to lower Grade/Year, depending upon the subsequent performance of the pupil in the school, as stipulated in the DepEd Order No. 26, s. 1994.

    In addition to admission documentary requirements set by the school, Special Study Permit (SSP) shall be required before a foreign student will be enrolled (as per BI Foreign Admission Policy). Please see SSP documentary requirements.

    STUDENTS WITH LIMITED KNOWLEDGE IN ENGLISH

    Incoming high school students (JHS & SHS) who are found to have limited knowledge and skills in English will be required to attend the Intensive English Program for non-English Speakers (IEP-NES) during the period set by the school before they will be accepted as regular students. Parents and guardians must also understand that there is a separate payment for the IEP-NES program and is not included in the enrollment fees. Preschoolers and elementary students are exempted from this policy.
